TORONTO- Seasonal is a new series by Montreal urban artist Whatisadam. Part of Canada’s appeal is its four seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter. They offer changing landscapes and temperatures. This new series of mixed media paintings explores the magical nature of Canada’s changing seasons and the different settings they offer, all the while highlighting quirky pop-culture references specific to this great country, and fusing backcountry themes with urban living. Adam Vieira, better known as Whatisadam (WIA), is a Canadian urban artist based in Montreal whose style is reminiscent of vintage comics and pop art, and is often infused with Canadian imagery. Depictions of North American wildlife and landscapes are common themes throughout his work, but are always reimagined to feature elements of urban culture, as seen in his maple ‘sizzurp’ cans, tattooed ducks and hockey hoodlums. Whatisadam has collaborated with many organizations such as Osheaga, Sprite, Hennessy, Roots Canada and many more.
