Joe Iurato: Trouble Maker

2025

September 18, 2025

Press Release Back

New York, NY (September 12th, 2025) – For immediate release:

Taglialatella Galleries is excited to announce Trouble Maker by Joe Iurato, a solo exhibition opening on Thursday, September 18th at the gallery’s flagship location in the heart of New York’s Chelsea gallery district.

Trouble is perhaps the most consistent theme of Joe Iurato’s work. Whether it’s the kind of nostalgic, childlike mischief depicted in Iurato’s imagery, or the sense of solitude one might garner from a wandering figure, Iurato’s compositions often evoke emotional engagement. In Trouble Maker, the artist wants onlookers to witness their own memories and sensations of fear and fun through his vision and interpretation of those unforgettable feelings we all incur throughout our lives.

“Over the years, in one way or another, trouble’s weaved its way into nearly all of my work. From the faceless self-portraits I began doing in times of adversity, to the drifters and musicians wandering along railroad tracks and desert roads, to the more lighthearted, whimsical works of kids being mischievous or scribbling uplifting messages on walls and sidewalks. It all starts with trouble. The thing is, where there’s trouble there’s hope. One gives breath to the other.”

-Joe Iurato

Trouble Maker consists of a diverse body of work, created in Iurato’s signature style of aerosol painting on wooden assemblage with stencil, as well as unique works on canvas and paper, and a limited edition print exclusively available during the exhibition. There will also be a hand-painted fifteen foot mural created on site by Iurato, to be unveiled prior to the exhibition opening.

Please RSVP to the opening reception on Thursday, September 18th at 229 10th Avenue, New York, NY between 6-8PM. Trouble Maker will be open to the public daily, Monday–Saturday, from 10–6PM until October 10th. For additional details, please contact info@djtfa.com.
