A CAPTIVATING, ACCESSIBLE GIFT PERFECT FOR ART ENTHUSIASTS, LOVERS OF NEW YORK, AND URBAN EXPLORERS
There's so much to love about New York, and so much to see. The city is full of art, architecture, and history—and not just in museums. Hidden in plain sight, in office building lobbies, on street corners, or tucked behind some of the city’s most storied bars, there's a treasure trove of art waiting to be discovered, and you don't need an art history degree to fall in love with it.
Lori Zimmer is a New York-based curator, writer and author of The Art of Cardboard: Big Ideas for Creativity, Collaboration, Storytelling, and Reuse (2015) and The Art of Spray Paint: Inspirations and Techniques from Masters of Aerosol (2017). She founded the popular art history blog Art Nerd New York in 2012, which focused on art history and contemporary art in New York City. Zimmer lives in New York City with her boyfriend Logan and his son Sailor, but can often be found eating cheese and baguette in Paris with Maria.
Maria Krasinski is an illustrator, designer, and researcher whose work spans cultural diplomacy, arts education, museums, and humanitarian projects. Born in Buffalo, New York, she's worked and wandered across all seven continents, collecting visual inspiration from vintage maps, hand-lettered signs, and color palettes in overlooked corners. Since her big break illustrating the cover of the Herbert Hoover Middle School calendar, Maria has contributed creative work to outlets such as the Chicago Public Library, Lonely Planet, Muhammad Ali Center, and the New York Times.
